July in Barcelona – Events Calendar
If you’re in July in Barcelona, you can find everything you need for a perfect summer vacation: live music performances, food and beer festivals, beach activities and lots of sightseeing material. July is the time when you can find big street neighbourhood parties, music festivals and of course, get a bit of tan and refreshment on the Barceloneta beach. The good thing is – if you’re staying in our hostel, everything is well connected and near. Here are eleven events in Barcelona you should not miss in July, from Poblenou Beer Festival to Open Air cinema on the beach!
Sundays – Piknic Electronik
Piknic Electronik, Barcelona’s weekly electronic music festival is held every Sunday from the 28th of June to the 20th of September. The festival, which is a combination of the finest electronic music and afternoon picnic, takes place on the hillside of Montjuïc.
1st – 3rd Poblenou Beer Festival
Great news for all beer lovers! From 1st to 3rd of July you can enjoy some of the best craft beers, along with live music and food in Poblenou neighborhood. The festival’s location is unbeatable – next to the Bogatell beach. After a hard day spent on spent on the beach, what’s better than a bit of refreshment at the fifth Poblenou Beer Festival?
2nd – 3rd Palo Alto Market
One more hip event located in Poblenou neighbourhood – Palo Alto Market is the stylish vintage market situated in a former Poblenou factory. Apart from clothes, arts and crafts vendors, the Barcelona’s most popular pop-up market offers superb food, drinks and music.
5th Música als Parcs – Trio Nuages
Is there a better way to relax than by listening to live jazz and classical concerts in the parks and gardens of Barcelona, FREE of charge? We think not. A series of concerts Musica als Parcs, organized by the City Council, this time presents a Jazz Trio Nuages. You can hear Nuages in the Primavera part at 9pm. Enjoy!
7th – Patti Smith
On the 7th of July, in the Pedralbes Gardens, you have the opportunity to listen to Patti Smith, the American singer, known as The Godmother of Punk music and the artist who sings the 1978 hit Because the Night. Are you humming Because the night belongs to lovers, because the night belongs to lust already?
8th – 10th Cruïlla Music Festival
If you’re in Barcelona on the second weekend of July, don’t miss the multi-genre festival Cruilla, taking place in Parc Del Forum, the same place where Primavera Sound is held. The festival’s lineup includes names such as Damien Rice, Cat Power, Alabama Shakes and Robert Plant!
12th – José González
José González, a Swedish indie folk singer-songwriter and guitarist, will take the stage at Pedralbes Gardens Festival on 12th of July. Sweet!
15th – 24th Poble Sec’s Festa Major
Enjoy one week of annual festa major in Poble sec neighbourhood – the great street party. The program includes music, dance, workshops, activities for children, food (paella!) and traditional celebrations, such as a parade that runs along the main streets.
15th – 17th Rock Fest Barcelona
Rock Fest Barcelona, a three-day festival is the main event for rock and heavy metal fans in July. Iron Maiden, Slayer, and Whitesnake are just some of the bands performing this year. It takes place in Santa Coloma, 20 minutes away from the center of Barca, and you can easily get there by using public transportation.
15th – 17th Raval’s Festa Major
The festa major in the neighbourhood of Raval is another big mid-July party on the streets. What characterizes Raval’s festa is the diversity reflected in the music and food from around the world.
21st – Rihanna
The spectacular concert of one of the most popular singers in the world is among big music events in Barcelona in July. On 21st of July you will have the opportunity to hear RiRi’s biggest hits, such as Work, Pour it Up, Stay and Diamonds live at Palau Sant Jordi.
24th Open Air – Cinema on Barceloneta
If you ever wished for a movie night on the beach under the starry sky, note down the date 24th of July. Bring your towel to the Barceloneta beach and get ready to have your heart touched and eyes moistened by the movie Me and Earl and The Dying Girl.
